James Favel

Bear Clan
Executive Director
The Bear Clan Patrol began in Winnipeg’s North End in 1992, going into hiatus several years later. Under the direction of James Favel, the Bear Clan Patrol returned to Winnipeg's streets in 2015. Today, the Bear Clan is still active and thriving, recognized nation wide for its work to "provide personal security in the inner city in a non-threatening, non-violent and supportive way". On any given night, volunteers with the Bear Clan Patrol can also be found picking up discarded needles, engaging youth and collecting donations for families in need. The Bear Clan works solely on donations: Go Fund Me. James Favel was the 2017 winner of the prestigious Governor General's Meritorious Service Medal.  He presented to the United Nations in February 2020 in Abu Dhabi.
